The Sonoma Schools, and many other organizations dealing with children
on a daily basis, will be passing out this form to every child enrolled in
our schools in order to expedite giving the law enforcement agencies a
description and photos immediately.
The form is designed to be kept by the telephone or other safe spot in
the home should, God forbid, anything happen to your
child or a relative. Again, the first
24 hours is critical and this information should be together. If you wait until something happens
valuable time is wasted. According to
statistics published by a major insurance agency, 43% of parents do not know
the eye color of their children, or can not think of it during a crisis. Another 40% do not know other vital
statistics. Is there really a need for
this? Yes! After notifying the police the next move
should be to call the Polly
Klaas Foundation. The
numbers of the law enforcement agencies and the Polly Klaas
Foundation are listed in the check list (what to do if your child or
family member(s) goes missing). This
should be kept with the descriptions of your children and loved ones,
hopefully near the phone. Please consider making a donation to the Polly Klaas
Foundation at https://secure.ga3.org/02/pkf. If you need assistance in obtaining a photo of your child,
please feel free to contact Robbie Pengelli at robbie@sonomanews.com. Thank you, |
